FAQ
Questions to ask before you switch.
Plain answers about the product, switching, the AI, security and the price. Something we didn't cover? Ask it on a demo.
Product
What it does, and what it doesn't.
Personal injury, workers' compensation and employment are built in, each with its own phases, pages, figures and case tools, on California rules. For anything else, like med-mal or lemon law, add the practice area in Customize, then describe its phases, pages and fields to the assistant in plain English.
No. PlaintiffStack builds the settlement statement and tracks liens and costs. Trust deposits and disbursements stay in your accounting system.
Not yet. Texts sent from PlaintiffStack are logged to the case today. Tell us on the demo how your firm uses email, and we'll show you where it stands.
No. The client portal opens from a link in any phone browser, in your firm's colors, and texts go straight to their phone. Clients can check their case, upload documents and sign without an account to remember.
It started in California: WCAB captions and ADJ numbers, Civil Rights Department right-to-sue deadlines and the pleading format are built in. Deadlines are computed and shown with their rule and basis so your team can confirm them, never applied silently. Today all three practices follow California rules. Practice elsewhere? Tell us on the demo.
Yes. Admins can add practice areas, phases, pages and fields, limit pages to roles and build automation flows. Ask the assistant in plain English for a new page, field or phase, review the exact change it proposes, and apply it with one click. Every change is audit-logged.
Switching
Bringing your cases over, and how long it takes.
Yes. We bring over your cases, contacts and documents from your current system, and check the result with you before you switch.
It depends on your current system and how many cases you carry. After the demo we send a plan with dates, so you know what moves over and when.
AI
What the agents do on their own, and how you check them.
Only the case summary. Agents propose facts, deadlines and tasks, and none of them lands in a case until a person accepts it. The summary at the top of each case is written by an agent, and earlier versions can be restored from Notes. Drafts wait for review, flows can hold for an admin's approval, and nothing goes to a client, a carrier or a court until a person sends it.
Every fact an agent proposes cites the document, the page and the exact words it came from, so checking takes a click. Case tools also flag what doesn't add up, like dates that disagree or bills with no records, and say where they found it.
Not yet. Agents read searchable PDFs, Word documents and text files. A file with no readable text is flagged in the document list so your team knows the AI hasn't read it, but scanned pages inside an otherwise searchable PDF aren't read or flagged yet.
Security
Medical records, the BAA and who owns the data.
HIPAA doesn't certify software, so be wary of anyone who says it does. We build to its Security Rule: your case database, documents and AI models run inside one AWS account in the US, documents are encrypted with keys that rotate, and the database itself scopes every request your team makes to your firm. We sign a business associate agreement with your firm before any client data arrives.
Not yet. On the demo we'll walk your IT lead through how PlaintiffStack is built and hosted, and answer your security questionnaire in writing.
Your firm does. It stays in your firm's walled-off space in our database and is never used to train AI models. If you leave, we export your cases, contacts and documents for you, then delete our copy.
Pricing
The price per case, and what the AI costs.
One flat price: $250 per case, with every app included. No monthly fees and no long lock-in contract.
On a case, each tool's Run button shows an estimated cost before it starts, and the actual cost of every run is recorded. How usage is billed is part of your quote.
