Intake and lead managementReviewed
PlaintiffStack vs Captorra
PlaintiffStack vs Captorra: Martindale-Avvo's lead intake with auto-replies and sign-up packets, or intake on the same record as the case.
The short answer
Captorra is built for speed to contact: instant auto-replies, Twilio calling and texting, sign-up packets sent for e-signature, and lead feeds from Martindale-Avvo's network and dozens of vendors. PlaintiffStack puts intake on the case record at $250 per case, without automatic capture or auto-replies. Firms living on purchased leads will find Captorra the closer fit.

Choose Captorra if
- You buy leads, especially from Martindale-Avvo's own network, and need each one captured and answered within seconds.
- Your intake team works the phones all day and wants calling, texting and screen pops in one tool.
- You send multi-document sign-up packets and want automatic reminders until they come back.
- You want case management inside the Microsoft suite, with Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.
- You practice outside California, where PlaintiffStack's rules don't apply.
Choose PlaintiffStack if
- Your leads come mostly by phone and referral, so automatic capture matters less than what happens after signing.
- You want intake and the case on one record with nothing to sync.
- You practice PI, workers' comp or employment in California and want the case tools, morning checks and drafts that follow intake.
- You want a published price per case instead of a quote.
What Captorra is
Captorra is lead and case management software for consumer law firms. It is part of Martindale-Avvo, the legal marketing business of Internet Brands, which also runs Martindale-Hubbell, Avvo, Lawyers.com, the Martindale-Nolo pay-per-lead network and Ngage Live Chat.
It sells two products. Captorra Intake handles leads from first contact to signed fee agreement. Captorra Case is case management built on Microsoft Dynamics, with SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams integration, for firms that want to work inside the Microsoft suite.
What it does well
Captorra Intake is built for speed to contact. When a lead appears, it sends an automatic text or email reply saying the firm has the information and will call shortly, then alerts staff to follow up until the person signs. Calling and texting run on Twilio, and an incoming call pulls up the matching contact record. Intake scripts differ by case type, and firms can add unlimited custom fields and configurable user roles. Captorra says it has handled intake on more than 5 million leads.
Signing is a strength. Captorra merges a firm's sign-up documents into a packet, sends it for e-signature by text or email, and keeps reminding the prospect until it comes back. It also tracks referrals and reports return on investment by campaign and case type.
Its integration list is long: lead providers including Martindale-Nolo, live chat providers, legal call centers, call tracking from CallRail and CallTrackingMetrics, Zapier for web forms, and a posting API for lead vendors. For the signed client, it lists transfers to Needles, TrialWorks, Filevine, SmartAdvocate, Prevail, ProLaw, Time Matters, LawBase and others.
Where PlaintiffStack is different
PlaintiffStack's intake is part of the case record. A lead is taken on a form built for its practice area, with conditional questions, moved through six stages from new lead to signed, and converted into a case that keeps its tasks, messages and history. Retainers go out through built-in e-signature in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean or Tagalog, with signing order, reminders and a certificate of completion.
The gaps against Captorra are real:
- No automatic lead capture. Intake doesn't pull leads from web forms, ads, chat or lead vendors; staff enter them.
- No instant auto-reply. Stage rules add follow-up tasks or draft messages, and a person sends them. Flows in Automate never send messages on their own.
- No "retainer signed" notice or automatic stage change when the signature comes back, and an incoming text is not an automation trigger.
The difference that runs the other way is what the record does next. PlaintiffStack is built for California personal injury, workers' comp and employment, with each practice's phases, case tools and morning checks. A PI case gets a missing records report, a treatment chronology and a policy-limits demand draft. A WC case gets a benefits audit and a QME cover letter. An employment case gets a legal chronology and a wage and penalty audit. Agents read searchable PDFs, Word and text files and propose facts for a person to accept. There is no OCR yet, so scanned records and faxes are not read.
Captorra Case or PlaintiffStack
Firms that want one vendor for intake and cases can buy both Captorra products, so the choice is not only intake against a platform. It comes down to platform and focus. Captorra Case runs on Microsoft Dynamics and suits firms that want their case work inside Outlook and Teams. PlaintiffStack is its own application with AI agents built in and California rules for three plaintiff practices. Its live integrations today are Microsoft Word and Dropbox, with RingCentral in early access; Outlook is listed as coming on the integrations page.
Cost
Captorra does not publish prices. PlaintiffStack is $250 per case with every app included, no monthly fee and no long lock-in contract. AI usage is billed separately, and a tool shows its estimated cost before it runs on a case. See pricing, or estimate your own numbers with the case management cost calculator.
Who fits which
Captorra fits consumer firms buying leads at volume, especially from Martindale-Avvo's network, that need every lead captured and answered in seconds and a sign-up packet out on the first call. PlaintiffStack fits California plaintiff firms whose leads come mostly by phone and referral and who want intake and the case on one record. For the PI workflow from first call to settlement, see the personal injury case workflow guide.
